General Information about QGO

What is the QuestGamesOptimizer (QGO) ?

QGO is a native unofficial Meta Quest tool that allows users to use the full potential/performances of their Meta Quest without being restricted. It is an app launcher that gives you the ability to tweak each of your games to make them graphically better or smoother or to save battery and to tweak the video recording settings. => QGO in a few points

What headsets are supported by QGO ?

Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest Pro and Quest 3

What games are optimized ?

All standalone VR games can be optimized, and here is the list of optimized games per devices. New optimized games are published every week, so the list is constantly growing

What is the Premium Extension ?

The premium extension gives you some extra cool features.  Check the Itch.io page here

Are updates free / How to update ?

Yes, of course ! All the updates are free

When there is a new QGO update, you are notified inside the app itself. Just click on the update button to install the update (take a look at  this video), or get the last version of the application on Itch.io and install it over the current one. Keep in mind updating QGO is highly recommended as the updates fix problems on previous versions, add new features and fix compatibility issues with every next Meta Quest software update, and that I can't support all the previous versions

Why is your application on Itch.io ?

Itch.io is a great place for indie developpers. You can't imagine all the exceptional applications you can find on this platform.  Then I can manage all what I want on ths plateform, edit what I want, make posts, devlogs, email communications, promotions, give keys, sell goodies, can choose how I present the app and so on. The app can't be on AppLab nor on Official Meta Quest store because of the possibilities of the app. I'm not sure Meta could allow QGO on its store because of the possibilities the app offer. Also the taxe on Meta Quest Store are huge and I need to respect complexe guidelines to pretend to be on the platform. I want to be free from stores.

Do you have some important links ?

Who are you Anagan79 ?

I'm the QuestGamesOptimizer's Daddy since 3 years now and work as an French indie developer. I'm also a web, VR enthusiat and VR journalist at  https://gamergen.com/. I'm close to my great community and receive help from the great QGO community to test my app, report bug, imagine new features, etc. Recently I created a small dedicated profile team to help me to create official game profiles

Privacy and data collection

What data can QGO collect / store ?

  • Your email address to create your QGO account and check for purchase
  • Your Meta Quest Model and system version to give you the correct optimized profiles
  • (Cloud) The app stores your personal optimization profiles
  • (Cloud) The app stores your personal game categories/folder organization
  • (Local) The app stores the time you played games (Premium Extension only) in your device

Thanks to your account, if you uninstall QGO and reinstall it, you will retrieve all your data

Can I share my email to friends ?

1 email = one license = one user. That is how QGO was built. The email is the link to your QGO account and data. By sharing your email to other, when some of you create a personal profile, it will override the one you have. Using your email on too many devices will block your account for abuse

Profiles and optimizations

What is a QGO game profile ?

It is a list of configured settings (Rendering resolution, CPU, GPU, Refresh Rate, FFR, etc.) to improve your experience or the quality of games. As all the games are different, it doesn't exist any "common" profile for every game and for each game we can create different types of profiles

What are the different type of profiles ?

  • BATTERY SAVING profile : Lower some settings like refresh rate to save battery
  • PERFORMANCE profile : Higher FPS + Unchanged visual quality
  • HD profile : Superior visual quality and smooth experience
  • HD+ profile : Even higher visual quality and smooth experience but could be rendered at lower refresh rate (ex 72 instead of 90Hz)
  • PERSONAL profile : Profile that can be adapted to your own needs

Are all the official QGO profiles tested and approved ?

Yes for sure. Every profile is tested in many conditions, in heavy scenes and in multiplayer mode if available to be sure to be lag free. The FPS need to be stable to make an official profile.

There is no profile for my game. Why ?

If there is no profile for your game, this could be due to the fact I didn't have time to optimize it or that your game is a pirated game. I only do profile for official games. In the meantime, you can tweak the game by yourself

What profiles can I see on my device ?

On Quest 3 you can see Quest 3 profiles, on Quest 2 you can see Quest 2 profiles and so on...

Why are there only few profiles on the Quest 1 ?

There aren't many profiles on the Quest 1 because I don't have this headset. So the profiles you can see are the ones made by the community.

Are new profiles downloaded automatically, or do I have to update the application to get them?

All is automatic. When you open QGO and are connected to the Internet, QGO retrieve all the last profiles

What is FFR ?

This means Fixed Foveal Rendering, in other words, how the image is rendered in the outer edges of the center of the screen. The higher the FFR level is, the more the quality at the edge of the center of the screen is degraded, but better are the performances because the headset no longer calculates the whole image at the same resolution. This artifice is almost imperceptible to our eyes in lower levels, because the lenses whose shape is convex, make the image blurry the more we move our gaze away from the center of the screen

How can I send you my custom/personal profiles ?

There is a dedicated button on the Profile Edition screen. Then I could check your profile for lag free experience ans then share to every QGO users

How do I know when a new game profile is available ?

I send a notification inside QGO in the main screen (check the video above) everytime there is a new profile. Othe than that if you are on the Facebook or Reddit communities, I always try to make a post to inform you that a new profile is available

What is the Test-In-Game button (Premium Extension) ?

It is a button you can use when you are playing game to apply new preset without quitting the game. It avoids you to quitting the game, then starting QGO then editing the game then restarting the game.

Keep in mind you can't change the resolution on the go/when you are playing. Resolution must be applied before game launch

General questions

What is the Auto Detect feature aka Android Accessibility permision ?

  • If you choose to enable the  auto-detection feature. You will accept the Android Accessibility permission. This allows QGO to detect when games start or closed to activate or deactivate their profiles, but also to use the QGO shortcut feature and the auto launch QGO after a game close feature (Premium Extension only)
  • If you don't enable this permission, the above features can't work, so QGO can't be used at its full potential
  • If you don't enable this permission, the last profile you applied will persists and will not be disabled
  • You have the choice to enable / disable this permission

Will I lost my headset warranty ?

You risk nothing, it's as if you were doing the manipulations with SideQuest, and SideQuest is authorized. There's no overclocking with QGO, I'm using the device's existing capabilities, which developers can use. In other words, QGO is sticking to the rules. Using ADB commands is a common behavior on the Android world. What's more, when you restart your Meta Quest, any settings QGO may have modified are restored to their default values. So there's no risk to you.

Does it hurt my device ?

As QGO don't do overclocking, QGO only use the possibilities offered by the device. You could encounter an higher battery consumption depending on profiles, dépending on games, frequency, luminosity, passthrough, level sound, etc. Keep in mind that this is not necessary because you have an HD or HD+ profile that it will drain battery faster. It depends on many factors.

You also could encounter a little more heat, also depening on all the factors mentionned above. If you can, don't use a silicon shell cover (or other shell cover), because it could keeps the headset warm and could prevent it from ventilating properly.

Meta has provided protective measures in the event of overheating, with a message that simply asks you to let your headset rest to cool down.

Concerning my personal experience, I have one Quest 2, one Quest Pro and one Quest 3 and as you can imagine, I played thousands of hours for creating profiles and developping QGO without never have the Meta alert. After almost 3 years now, my Quest 2 and Quest Pro are still able to run Demeo on HD+ profile for more than 2 hours and my headsets work as expected, with no loss of power or battery.

Does QGO drain battery faster ?

The answer is YES and NO. As when you drive your car, if you drive fast or use the Sport mode, you will drain your fuel faster and vice versa. If you want better graphics or bettery/frequency, you need more power. So yes, you will drain the battery a little bit faster and it depend on the games. Keep in mind I can play Walkabout Mini Golf or Demeo for almost 2 hours with the HD+ profile. No pain no gain.

BUT, like you will see below, QGO give you  battery saving profiles for many games. For exemple, it can decrease the refresh rate to 60-68Hz for Quest 2 instead of 72 or 90 and QGO can set the CPU and GPU to PowerSave mode in addition to an higher Fixed Foveated Rendering, it help a lot to save battery. Or You also can decrease the resolution to help a little bit more.

As you are autonomous with QGO, can can create huge profiles but also battery saving profiles. It depends on what you want

Is QGO for standalone or PCVR ?

QGO is ONLY for standalone games. It cannot optimize PCBVR games as on PCVR mode, this is your graphic card that produce images and your Meta Quest is "only" a screen

Can QGO work on 2D apps ?

Nope, it only affect 3D games and textures

Can QGO can run properly on multiple account in the same headset ?

QGO cannot perform optimizations when running under a secondary Meta Quest account, it only acts as an application launcher. I can't fix that. But here are some workarounds if Admin account and secondary accounts are in the same headset :

  • However, I have set up a system to propagate optimizations from the main (admin) account to the secondary account. In the QGO menu, you will find the Optimized Games list entry. Click on it and you will see the whole optimized games for your device. You will also see their profiles represented by icons. So you can click here on the profile icon of your choice to apply it, and it will persist if you then switch to your secondary account, then launch the game you wanted to launch
  • A solution is to disable auto detect mode on Main Account, then launch the game you want with it’s profile, then close the game, then switch to secondary account, then launch the same game
  • Or just apply the profile your want to your Meta Quest Home and then switch your secondary account, then launch the game you wanted to launch

Does QGO require a minimum headset firmware?

It is better to be in last Meta Quest official firmware because Meta Quest updates sometimes break QGO. Also, QGO use possibilities of latests Meta Quest firmwares.

Can I use QGO with a PTC firmware ?

PTC = Public Test Channel

Not a good idea because these are beta firmware version so with bugs and some can break QGO

I don't have a PC, how to install QGO ?

You can install QGO via a MAC, a Linux machine or via an Android smartphone : https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer/devlog/360219/install-via-a-smartphone-or-pc-or-linux-or-mac

Do I need an Internet connection to make QGO work ?

QGO can be used in offline mode : Internet connection is only required the first time to connect your account, to retrieve the premade profiles and is used to save your custom profiles (but you can back up all your custom profiles manually in one shot via a dedicated button (need Internet)).

To resume, on daily usage, you only need to have the Wi-Fi turned ON to establish the magic ADB wireless connection, but you don't need Internet

Be careful, if QGO is not connected to the Internet, you will not receive the latest game profiles, nor the notifications I send, nor the new app updates to download.

Do I need to enable ADB wireless connection via a PC everytime I reboot my headset ?

Only during the installation or if ADB is red

If the QGO installation is done corectly, QGO will be able to enable ADB by itself without needeed a PC or smartphone wired connection on all the next headset reboot. It will just ask you to allow it to enable ADB by itself (it's a normal Android behavior)

I don't have a PC, how to enable ADB wireless ?

You can do that QGO via a MAC, a Linux machine or via an Android smartphone : https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer/devlog/360229/enabled-adb-wifi-via-a-smartphone-or-pc-or-linux-or-mac

Why do I have to allow again the ADB debug prompt after each Quest reboot ?

If you did a correct installation, the first time you setup QGO, you accepted (click on "Always Allow" button) 4 times different kinds of prompt.

Now each time you reboot your Quest, if you launch QGO, you must tell QGO to enable ADB by itself without computer. We cannot get ride of that. This is how Android operating system work. AS we don't have root access on the Quest, this cannot be automatic.

This is not a problem, just open QGO and accept the prompt ("Always Allow" button) and all is good until the next restart.

This is the simplest thing ever. No need for a PC on each Quest restart, just need a click when launching the app once by cycles.

Is it possible to launch QGO via a shortcut, from the Oculus Home without going to the unknown sources every time ?

YES, just go to the general settings screen and follow the steps. You need to enable the Auto Detect feature in order the shortcut behavior to work. Please note that this is an experimental feature and sometimes this doesn't work properly

From where can I launch the optimized games ?

  • you can launch optimized games from the Meta Quest Home (need Auto Detect feature to be enabled)
  • you can launch optimized games from third party app launcher (need Auto Detect feature to be enabled)
  • you can launch optimized games from QGO itself by clicking on the thumbnails of the games, in the main screen (in tile or list view) or in the edit profile screen

How can I downgrade QGO version ?

This is not recomended to downgrade QGO version because latestest versions contains patch and are able to run with latest Meta OS version. But if you want to do that, you must uninstall (see above) QGO first then reboot your device then install the version you want

How can I uninstall QGO ?

In the unknown sources apps sections in your Quest, you can click on the 3-dots menu icon on the line of the app and click on uninstall action

If you want to clean install you can run this ADB command in SideQuest custom commands screen :

« adb uninstall com.anagan.qgo »

I don't see any profile for my game, why ?

If you don't see any profile for your game, this just means I didn't optimize your game at the moment. OCreating profiles for games can take hours or days. You need to be patient. I have a very large list of optimized games to do, but not much time to do them all.

Can QGO optimize video player to improve video quality ?

Very little indeed. QGO can optimize 3D models and textures in VR games, but video streams can't really be improved, so don't expect any big changes here.

Troubleshooting and support

I encounter problem when purchasing QGO

This is not in my side but on your side or on the Itch.io side.

  • check if the Itch.io page is translated. For French users, translating the page make the payment not work
  • PayPal seem to always work

I can't find the link to download the apk and files

You can follow this link :  https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought and then enter the email you used on Itch.io. So Itch.io will send you again this mail with the links to download the apps you purchased

My headset is not recognize by my computer. Why ?

First, this is not related to QGO ;-)

  • Verify is your headset is in developer mode
  • Try another USB port
  • Try another USB OTG cable
  • Try another computer
  • Do not plug your USB cable in the Elite Strap battery, this is only for charging purpose
  • Perhaps you Antivirus block you headset

QGO was installed before, but you uninstalled it and now you can't reinstalled it anymore ?

It seems, the installation did'nt removed all the QGO files, so please processed to a clean uninstallation (see the uninstallation section)

QGO told me my email is not verified, why ?

  • The majority of time, you did a typo on your email address when you purchased the app. So please double check your email before purchasing the app
  • Some people pay with another email than their Itch.io account, so try to log in QGO with all your possible mail address
  • Some rare cases are due to the fact people use a different keyboard layout, so the symbols are not the same as expected
  • Some rare case are due to the fact Itch.io servers are down. So you can check this link : https://updownradar.com/status/itch.io

Anyway, if you really can't log in QGO, please contact me at questgamesoptimizer@gmail.com

I can't see my games in QGO, why ?

  • This could be due to the fact you are not displayting the "All" QGO game list view
  • Or because the name of the game is not the real game name. "Resident Evil 4" was named "VR4" when "Mohab" was the name of "Medal Of Honor". Just contact me and I will update the game name

The Quest is laggy with profiles. Is this normal ?

  • if the Auto Detect feature is disabled, and you come back to Meta Quest Home when after closing an optimized game, the profile will persist on the home and could make it lag
  • if you define a too heavy or non-optimized profile, this could lag
  • if some of the predefined profiles are obsolete. Developers sometimes update their games, so this is possible the official QGO profiles need to be updated. If this is the case, please contact me

I can't see any difference nor the applied profile notification when launching an optimized game

  • if you launch the game from outside QGO, you need to enable the Auto Detect feature to be sure QGO can detect its launch
  • be sure to disable "Do not disturb mode" to get the notifications 😉
  • also verify that the ADB icon is green
  • verify your are using QGO on an Admin account only
  • verify the developer mode is enabled in the Meta smartphone application. If not, enable the developer mode and restart your Meta Quest
  • check if a profile is enabled for your game
  • check if you didn't disable the notifications in the QGO general settings
  • the applied profile notification is displayed 10 seconds after a game is launched and. Few games take very long time to boot, so if the games haven't booted completely during these 10 seconds, you will not see the notification

=> You can try to make a very blurry profile for this game, by settings 512px in textures resolution for example. Then, if you launch the game and the game is blurry, this means QGO have successfully applied the profile, even without notification.

=> You also can monitor changes with OVR Metrics Tool overlay

The ADB icon is still red even after reboot

It appears you forgot something  in the tutorial or that a Meta Quest update broke the ADB stuff.

ADB is not enabled, so QuestGamesOptimizer cannot apply optimizations.

The ADB icon should be green with a small lightning bolt.

Here are some solutions:

  • Click on the ADB icon or the button to try again
  • Make sure the headset\'s WiFi is enabled, then restart QuestGamesOptimizer
  • If the wireless debugging window appears, click the 'Always allow' button, not the 'Allow' button
  • Try enabling ADB WiFi mode from a USB connection (PC, Smartphone), then restart QuestGamesOptimizer
  • Uninstall QuestGamesOptimizer (see the uninstallation section), then reboot the Meta Quest, then reinstall QuestGamesOptimizer following meticulously, step by step, click by click, my installation video and instructions on my Itch.io page

Remember to click on the "Always allow" button ( and not on the blue "Allow" button) as many times as necessary (4 times during installation and only once per headset is restarted if QGO is launched).

ADB

What is ADB ?

ADB is the basic tool for developers and all hackers who want to operate their Android device from a computer. It is part of the SDK (Android Software Development Kit).  ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge. It is a bridge between the Android system and our computer, or more generally our Android device and another device. It allows developers (and others in the Android ecosystem) to communicate with their device through commands. Everything works on the client-server (or slave-master) model.  adbd, the ADB daemon (background process) runs on the Android device and can  receive commands from an ADB server, installed on a computer or other device, and thus execute them. In most cases, it is used through a USB connection.  This is what happens when we plug the Meta Quest into our computer. The client (our Meta Quest), goes into debug mode and receives commands from the server (our computer and SideQuest), such as changing the resolution of textures via a Shell command.

What is ADB Wireless ?

This is the way to use ADB capabilities without a wired USB connection (so via Wi-Fi), and in a" few words", it enables the ADB embedded service in your Android device (the Meta Quest).

You have to enable ADB wireless connection with a physical USB connection, via PC or Android Smartphone each time you complete reboot your Meta Quest to wake up the embedded ADB service. The Meta Quest can't wake up its ADB service on its own... Android works like that, as a master/slave connection. The master ask the slave to wake up its ADB service.

====> BUT since the v7.0.0, the QuestGamesOptimizer can wake up its ADB service by itself. It uses a local ADB loop to call itself and some magical stuff to make it work. So you don't need to enable ADB wireless via a USB connection every time you reboot your device anymore !! Just open QGO and accept the prompt 😃😎 <===

How to enable ADB ?

https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer/devlog/360229/enabled-adb-wifi-vi...

OVR Metrics Tool

What is OVR Metrics Tool ?

This is a tool created by Meta to monitor hardware parameters, performances and capabilities such as the CPU, GPU levels and utilization, FPS, the display frequency, the resolution of the textures and so on. This tool is very useful when creating profiles for games. You can download and install it via QGO. You also can download and install it from here :  https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/ovr-metrics-tool/

Why is OVR Metrics Tool displaying higher or lower resolution than what I set ?

QGO redefine system-wide basis rendering resolution. But some games have are rendered with a multiplier of this basis. This is why for example on Quest 2, First Contact (free game) show 1232x1355px instead of the basis 1440x1584 (x0.86), when Walkabout Mini Golf is rendered at almost 1870x2057px (x1.3). So if for this game QGO redefine basis rendering resolution to 2000x2100 then the result is 2300x2730px

Communities, contribution and support

Do you have QGO communities ?

YES, you can find the best active and benevolent community on  Facebook with more than 5000 members. And another one, but little on  Reddit. The Facebook on is the best today and the place I communicate the most. I also have a Discord

What is a contributor ?

A QGO contributor is someone who helped in many ways. Help me to test or fix the app, to create profiles, who contribute with donation, who is part of the Patreon, who promote the app in many ways such as on the communities, YouTube, someone who find great ideas and so on. In fact, people who helped the project to be better.

All the  contributors can be found on this page.

I want to support you, how can I do ?

First, thank you :-)

  • you can donate me via  PayPal
  • you can subscribe to my  Patreon
  • you can speak about QGO around you and promote the app
  • or you can buy my official QGO Sweat Shirt, Mug and T-shirt

wassup dude, lovin the app but I got a Question:

I bought ur App on the 27th of march, I used it on my quest 2, I switched to the Quest 3 today, is there like any way of gettin the app again or do i need to buy it again? I also bought the premium extension :(

(1 edit)

Hi, thank you ! 🤘

2 solutions 😉

- You can purchase another QGO license to support me 😜

- Or don't pay again and just use your QGO account on your new device 😉. 1 QGO license = 1 user. So, you can have a Q2 and Q3 and use the QGO license you already bought 👍

Anyway if you love the app, don't forget to rate it 🙃

oh didn’t know i can use the “old” license on the new quest again, i sold the quest 2 so it will be just on one quest :)

Yea bro i would love to support u again but after payin 549,99€ for the new headset my wallet is pretty much hurtin :D

thank u !

also I will first test it on the q3, since everybody said that it is a gamechanger on the newer Q3, then I will rate it. No worries !

this is amazing on Q3 because Q3 is blurry by default and have poor rendering resolution

Hi, will it work if I upgrade to V.64?

Sure, it will work as on v63

(1 edit)

Got the optimizer working on my Quest 3. But I noticed that my microphone doesn't work in recordings anymore. Doing a "Boot" by holding down the power and volume down fixes the microphone issue. But that disables ADB.....so I re-enable ADB using your file "ADB_WIFI_CONNECTION" .  And then that fixes the ADB problem.....but microphone no longer works in video recordings.

So I'm stuck in a loop. I can have ADB or voice in videos.....but not both. And I USE both.  Enjoy your optimizer and I make videos.

To be clear...my Mic still works in games or chats.....but not in video recordings.

Any ideas?

(+1)

Hi, mic have issues since a long time on the Meta Quest, but yes, it sometimes appears if you run ADB commands to tweak the recording settings, it "break" the mic... I didn't find any solutions. In my side, I don't care about mic as the games I record I solo games, but yeah this is sometimes a problem. But sometimes it works without any issues... What are the settings you apply for video recording ?

(2 edits)

I had turned them up a little from 5mbs to 10mbs or something similar. But when the mic stopped working I went back to default. I didn't use any commands on recording settings....actually....I think once I turned on developer mode the mic stopped working. And it only works if I do a "boot" in the safe menu. But I lose mic again once I enable developers mode.....I think.

I guess my best workaround is using an external mic when making gaming videos. But it always is disappointing when you have a brand new toy and something doesn't work.

FIXED IT!  I went into your app and adjusted my recording settings. Simply adjusted it a little....hit "apply" and then my mic was back!  So now I have QGO working AND my mic working. If someone else comes to you with that problem you can suggest adjusting the record values through your app to see if it helps.

(+1)

Glad to read that on your side, but the fact is that recording for example in Side by side is complicated. Sometimes it works, sometimes not... It is the same with the Meta quest developer hub. Did you try on SBS ?

Sorry, SBS what's that stand for?  Which menu is that is you show? Sidequest?

SBS = Side By Side (both eyes). This is the video record section on the Meta Quest Developer Hub : https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-developer-hub-win/

They clearly mention that in some case you can't get audio/(mic) to work.

Hi, I'm having an issue where when I boot up QGO, it doesn't ask for the "allow all pop up" screen anymore, I've tried all the options that you see from when ADB doesn't work and still nothing. This happened after my headset died while playing a game. Once I let my headset charge, I came back and tried turning on QGO and it never showed the allow access pop up.

(-1)

Hi, did you try to enable again ADB wifi via sidequest ?

I suggest your to uninstall QGO, restart the Quest, sideload QGO via sidequest, enable ADB wifi via sidequest, start the app and then you will see the 4 prompts to accept (4 x ALWAYS ALLOW ON THIS COMPUTER/NETWORK button).

Then come back to me

Hi, I also have this same issue and followed your instructions exactly. I restarted after uninstall, updated my sidequest on my PC, enabled usb adb on the quest, and everything is good on sidequest. Reinstalled QGO and still same issue. It sometimes pops up but it still doesn't turn green on qgo.

What you show is not the Sidequest advanced installer app. But the easy installer app that can't perfrom ADB wireless connection like I do in the video

thanks, I am using the Mac osx client but forgot to enable WiFi adb through it. After I did that it worked again. I don't know how i can live without QGO now that I didn't have it for a week😂😂😂 thanks man!

Hi, It seemed I missed a step in the video, I got it to work again.  Keep this up. I love it. it helps so much

😉

If you could... rename "PirateQueen" to "The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend" and add some box art. And rename "The Creature: Escape Room" to "Escape From Bunker". I also think that "Doom 3 Quest" could have better box art and maybe even be renamed to "Doom 3: VR Edition". Of course, if you don't want to, that's fine. I just know that you prefer to rename games on your end than to let us have "display names" for each game on our end. So I thought that I'd make the request.

I will do that 👍😉

You also can click on the report bug button on each app menu, juste above the edit entry. So that I'm 100% sure what game to rename 😉

I prefer you use this way 👌

I did the modifications. Tell me if it is okay on your side :-)

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to get a refund? Knowing that I never installed the application on my headset because I sold my vr headset.

(+1)

Hi, when did you buy the app ? I can't find any purchase with your account : SiiSterMoDz
You can contact me by email at questgamesoptimizer@gmail.com and give me the email you used to buy the application ;-)

Hi, every time I try to install, QGO installs on my secondary account.  Both headset and SideQuest are logged into my admin account.  How can I fix this??

Hi, all the sideloaded apps you install are present on both Admin and secondary account, it is not like official games from the official store. They are installed on the headset and don't depends on any accounts. The last time I did test with secondary account, I installed QGO and another unoficial app and both were present on my admin and secondary account

Anyway QGO optimization can't work on secondary account, only on Admin

QGO does not show up on the admin account only the secondary account.

I don't know guy. I'm not responsible on what happen when sideloading... You should try to sideload with Meta Quest Developer Hub. You also could try to run this following command : "adb uninstall com.anagan.qgo" to remove the app from your headset to then try again

ok, Thanks.  Just weird. Looks like QGO is working on the secondary account even though there is a message that says it won't. ABD icon is green with the lightning bolt and the enhanced profiles show up next to each app.  Anyway, I'll give your suggestions a shot.

Yep QGO look like it work on secondary account but trust me ADB even with green color can't work. As a try you could try to enable/disable guardian or create a low res profile to see if it applies or not

Hi, My Quest 2 is still running V50, the latest update 9.4.0 broke the app. QGO just froze if I click on the menu or try to launch games. Reinstall doesn't help.

Hi, I'm not supposed to support the v50 on Quest 2. QGO is often updated to be able to run on the latest Meta OS versions. v50 is very old now, I can't support all the versions...

I understand. Can I at lease download an older version instead? Itch.io only provide link for the latest update. Thanks.

I have a CordlessLamp user on discord. If it is you, I sent you a message.

Yes, that's me. Thank you so much.

Hi, all is still fine now ?

hi,

Is it a requirement to have 120hz enabled in the quest settings in order to use 120hz profiles? Does having both on impact battery life more, is one preferable over the other?

I can enable 120Hz without the setting in the Meta Quest, but to be sure, yes you must enable that. It will only officially tells your headset that some games can use the 120Hz instead of the 90Hz max.

Yes, using 120Hz in games drain battery faster

Hello. Is it possible that 3D recording with v62 does not work with QGO? I put the recording in 3D (left/right) in the options, but when I hit apply it still comes out flat, it doesn't go stereoscopic in both Quest Pro and Quest 3. Thank you

Hi, I just retry on Q2 and Q3 and it successfully recorded in side by side mode.

Select side by side, then click apply button, then you must start recording video.

But I found that since the v62 on Q3, you don't hear the mic voice anymore...

Hi, the Quest 3 is powerful but not a war machine lol, so yes, when you record video or cast gameplay when playing heavy games, you can encoubtered lags etc...

You could try to set CPU to VeryHigh znd GPU to Ultra to have the most performances when casting your gameplay

Hi, in quest 3, as I set auto detection on, every time I quit an app, the horizon feed will pop up, it's really annoying. To my understanding , if the resolution changed, the home will restart, thus horizon feed would recognize as restart of the system, so it starts again and again whenever an app was closed and home restarted. I tried to set the profile of home to none, but it did not work. Any solutions?

(1 edit)

Hi, there is no solution excepted disabling Auto Detection or removing the Meta apps. But I will push a QGO update with the ability to do this ONLY when no custom resolution is set for the home ;-)

looking forward to the updateO(∩_∩)O

Hi I'm a quest 3 user who has been using qgo for more than a year, so I'm playing a new game which is in beta test currently , so the thing is when the game was in alpha test , i used to put the resolution to 140% and it would look amazing , but in the beta even if i put the resolution to 213% it doesn't look as good as alpha at 140% , I've noticed with the metric tool that the resolution changes depending on what I'm doing (looking at ground vs shooting gun) so i think the game developers added dynamic resolution. So my first question is , if i set the resolution to 213% does that mean that the game will choose the highest possible resolution that doesn't affect frequency ? Becuase the resolution is never fixed like i want it to be and usually it's lower than the selected resolution on qgo HOWEVER it's higher than the default resolution without qgo. So qgo works in increasing resolution but can't force a specific resolution that i want. The resolution always changes when playing the game . I hope I made this clear. I can test and show you numbers if you don't understand what i mean . Btw this is all with ultra gpu , max cpu level , default HZ (72) and very high foveated rendering.

Second question , is it really okay to put cpu at max level ? I know dynamic is enough for most games but i notice better performance with max cpu and i don't care about battery. I mean for long term health of cpu.

Third question , would it be possible to add a controller button rebinding using quest games optimizer since it has adb access ? In the quest settings in the disability section you can rebind some buttons but a button you can't remap is the button under the joystick (i mean when you press down on the joystick to jump or sprint) . A lot of gamers want to rebind this button and a lot of games don't let us do it neither does meta , i would pay money for this extra feature .

A lot of questions sorry but i couldn't find answers on the subreddit and the original comment section on this app's main page on ithc.io got deleted or moved here idk

Btw thanks for thi awesome app , i referred so many contractors pro players to buy this app becuase it's amazing

Hello :-)

What you see is the Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) in action ;-)

Some new games use this feature (Red Matter 2, 7th guest, etc...).

The Quest 3 have a default system basis rendering resolution set to 1680x1760px and the games apply to this basis a custom coefficient.

This coefficient, thanks to the Dynamic Resolution Scaling can be changed on the go. Ex: x0.8, x1.0, x1.1, x1.3, etc...

As QGO redefine the system basis rendering resolution, the DRS or the game itself apply the multiplier to what QGO define. It's why thanks to QGO, the DRS is always better. But as DRS is enabled, QGO can't disable it. Anyway, QGO + DSR is the best as possible :-)

Regarding to the maximum GPU level, I implemented this feature few months ago and at the moment, nobody reported over heat or nuclear explosion :-D. And you can imagine I play a lot with all the settings and I confess I never get the over heat alert message since 3 years now o my 3 devices. As QGO don't do overlocking but only use what the hardware offer, in case of issue, the hardware is able to lower the performances to cool the system or to display you an alert to take the Quest off few minutes in order it rest a little. So yes the battery will drain faster but only a little but, not twice, perhaps 20% faster at maximum.

Concerning the remap feature, I'm note sure I can do that. I never get the keycode on the controllers but will look at that.

There is no dumb question ;-)

Thank you and have a good day

(1 edit)

Thank you very much for the quick and informative answer , i wish the dynamic resolution could be disabled becuase it's really dumb in the way it works , or the devs might have activated it becuase they didn't want to optimize the new graphics for quest 3 , by default the resolution can get as low as 1180 on the metric tool which is really blurry , with optimizer set at 213% , the lowest it goes is 2500 according to the metric tool . At least qgo is helping with the issue or i wouldn't be able to tolerate the low resolution so thanks for the app really.

One last question , what's the point of the square option beside the resolution bar , doesn't 1680×1680 (square) deliver the same resolution as 1603×1760 since they both equal approximately 2822000 pixels , is the square option more sharp in the center of screen by any chance ?

Also i was talking about the cpu not the gpu , but i suppose it's the same answer - setting it to max won't harm it even long term . All clear

Thank you very much

I think DRS is a good solution to have better resolution in some parts of the game, but like you I hate to see blurry resolutions... 1180px is shameful... When the basis is 1680...

Very few games only support square resolution. But yes we can't see any difference so it just can help a little bit the Quest to have more headroom.

What I says for GPU is the same foe CPU 😉

Hi.  Has there been a change in the game profiles?  I can't see the option for unlocked for CPU and GPU?

To be clear, I do have all the options low/medium/high etc just unlocked isn't there.

Hi, I explained that in the v9.3.0 I renamed the levels 😉

Same performances but renamed. Unlocked is now named = Very High

Thanks for the response and clarification.  Overlooked that on the notes.

Cheers 👍

Hello, I was getting the ADB error over and over on a Q2. Uninstalled QGO, trying to reinstall. I have tried SQ and MQDH. QGO says successfully installed, I disconnect from USB. But no QGO. When installing via MQDH it shows installing, then disappears after displaying successfully  installed. I have tried the clean uninstall command file but still no luck. Any ideas? Thank you!

Yes I suppose you didn't click where I click in my video. Please refer to the FAQ or the instructions & installation section.

You must click on Always Allow button and not on Allow button. I explain that in details

Issue resolved. Thank you!

Hello, I bought the application, but I want games on Steam. Is it possible to do that using the cable? Or just the VR games themselves?  i mean store meta ?

Hello, it's clearly mentioned in several places on my page that QGO is only for native games and not PCVR ;-)

I bought another Quest 3 for my daughter, and a block occurred while logging in. Please release the block. I will purchase more.

You can retry ?

that's happening to me

Hello, does anyone know if the apk files will work if I try to open them on my mac? I only have an M1 MacBook Air to use sidequest on and I need to know if the files will work before I purchase the app lol...

Hi, yes if you have SideQuest on your MAC, you can install QGO. I explained that in the FAQ and in installation instructions

Hello, I've been trying out QGO, and I have a question Does it optimize the games I open through QuestLink or Steam Link?

(-1)

Hi, nope, QGO is only for autonomous games, this is written on my page and in the FAQ ;-)

Hello Anagan,

i also have the same Problem like hugoagogo69, " First time user. I get to the email verification, I have verified and it won't accept my email in my quest so can't get past that stage. My email is the one I set it up with. Have tried rebooting, it's just not accepting it.

kind regards

Hi, the email I have from you is : m****-ri**l@web.de.

You certainly make a typo on your email.

If this is the case, please contact me by email and give me the correct email

Hello Anagan,

i just send you an email to questgamesoptimizer@gmail.com with my email adress.

kind regards
